Ximending night market hours

Ximending is a pedestrian shopping district, not a single night market. There is no one street lined with food stalls — the street food is spread through the lanes off the pedestrian streets, so there is no single "Ximending night market" opening or closing time either.

What mapping apps show as "Ximending Night Market" (Mon–Fri 18:00–23:00, Sat–Sun 11:00–23:00) is the stall-activity window — when the stalls are busiest. It is not a time the streets close: the streets never close.

• The Lane 50 food alley (off Exit 6) is the closest thing to a night-market strip: about twenty stalls that open from early afternoon and run late into the evening.
• Ay Chung Flour Rice Noodles, the district's signature stall, runs from mid-morning to about 22:30.
• Stalls cluster most densely in the late afternoon and evening, so the busiest hours are roughly 16:00–23:00.

Shop and mall hours

Most Ximending shops open around 11:00 and close around 22:00, and the district stays quiet until late morning. Some shops stay open to 23:00, and Friday and Saturday run later than weekdays. Every shop sets its own hours, so check before you travel for one particular store.

Red House opening hours

The Red House is the one venue in Ximending with a published schedule. Every source agrees on the essentials: it is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 and closed on Monday, and Saturday is the latest day, open to 22:00.

The weekday closing time is less clear. The operator's own site and the district association publish 21:30 (extended to 22:00 on Friday and Saturday); the Taipei City Culture Department FAQ says Tue–Fri 21:00; and Taipei's official visitor listings say Tue–Thu 20:00, Fri 21:00. If you are planning a late weekday visit, treat the close as somewhere between 20:00 and 21:30 and confirm on the day.

The weekend craft market in the courtyard behind the building usually runs on Saturday and Sunday afternoons into the evening. Cinema and entertainment hours

Ximending's cinema street is Wuchang Street Section 2, with more screens on Emei Street and Chengdu Road. Sessions run from daytime into the late evening, and some theatres have late-night and after-midnight shows.

The cinema lineup has changed recently, so do not rely on an old guide. 今日秀泰影城 closed in 2024 and in89 豪華影城 closed on 31 May 2026; the old sites now trade under new operators (台北西門威秀 and 喜樂時代). 樂聲影城 on Wuchang Street is still screening as of October 2026. Always check the day's listing before setting out.

• The pedestrian streets themselves — public roads with no closing time.
• Don Don Donki Ximen — the Japanese discount store on Xining South Road is open 24 hours (confirmed by Taipei City's own tourism office).
• The Kunming Street beef-noodle strip — Fuhong and its neighbours (Caihong, Jianhong, Xiaowu) serve around the clock; Fuhong is the best known.
• A 24-hour noodle shop near the Red House for a post-midnight bowl.
• Many KTV and mahjong venues — commonly 24 hours, but confirm with the individual venue.

Getting there and last-train times

Ximen MRT Station serves both the Blue (Bannan) and Green (Songshan–Xindian) lines. First trains run from about 06:00 to 06:08, and the last trains leave Ximen around 00:30–00:50, depending on line and direction (Green Line last toward Songshan and toward Xindian; Blue Line last toward Nangang and toward Dingpu).
